Addicted? --- Totally! 5 Years after putting up my rogues gallery I thought it was time for an update, the RBR in 2000 got me a bronze after I recouped from my hospital visit and missing the Scottish Rally, then a day in Wales. Back to the same in 2001 but silver on the RBR, in 2002 the plan was to do all 3 Rallies, Welsh, ACU National and Scottish, also to get a gold on the RBR. It started well but things weren’t too good on the job front and after a trip to the TT it was time for a job change but when you get over 50 they are a bit hard to get so I went back on the buses but I still got the Welsh, English and Scottish Rallies in and just made it for a silver on the RBR and now thinking the RBR should have a health warning on it. Well 2003 came round and I had a go for a All-rounder as it was my 4th year it started well, I got lost on my way to my 1st landmark but I was well kitted out, tent on loan, and a YHA card, after 4 days and 20 landmarks I found I liked camping the best when doing the RBR. Well after a lot of fun and lot of miles and doing Welsh, English and Scottish Rallies I was left with 10 landmarks to do, but like Devon and Cornwall {long way from Barnsley} they should have been done on the 1st trip so this was a 3 day run finishing at Weston Super Mare, at the Windmill, it then started to rain, the most I had on all the RBR all this year, a call into GF s for a dry out that was most welcome. Then that was it, but fate had one more trick up its sleeve the bike was nicked in November from the garage, well Father Christmas got me a Goldwing but I think the wife had a bit to do with it she liked the colour but it needed a bit of fixing, it was not done in time for the Welsh rally but it was ok for the TT, then a start was made on the RBR the target was a gold but after the Scottish Rally I could see this was not on and I would be hard pressed to get a silver, so a quick plan for a trip to Wales upon getting home from this trip I found I was 5 points short of a silver and the nearest place was Birmingham, so I went and did 3 more landmarks and that was it for 2004. I hope you have enjoyed this year 2005 as much as me and my son as he had got his hands on a Reliant and we are hoping to have an ‘All-rounder’ this year and looking forward to 2006 RBR and seeing where Dave will be sending us. Hope to meet lots of you in 2006 ride very very safe, so year 6 starts of the RBR for me with the dinner {it was RBR or bathroom in 2005, bathroom lost well I did make a start on the bathroom in 2005 but will it be finished in time to start the 2006 RBR see you at the dinner Dave in 2006} John, Andrew and Edith Douglas
